NATIONAL CENTER FOR VOLCANOLOGYCANARY ISLANDS VOLCANOLOGICAL INSTITUTE (INVOLCAN)
The National Center for Volcanology or Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN) is an entity unanimously in demand by the Spanish Senate (02/11/2005), the Canary Islands Regional Parliament (11/01/2006) and the Spanish Congress (02/12 /2009) which purpose is to contribute to improve the volcanic risk management in Spain (say Canaries; the only active volcanic region of the country with volcanic risk), and to optimize the management of the many benefits that entails living in a volcanic region (geothermal resources, geotourism, etc…). Its mission and vision are intended to contribute to the sustainable development of the Canary Islands as well as other volcanic regions.
